Passages Submission Guidelines
Winners of the Dr. David Chu Scholarship in Asia Pacific Studies will be contacted upon receiving the award about submitting an article based on their research/study travel to Asia for publication in Passages. Here are the submission guidelines:
You have three options which are outlined below, and you are welcome to submit one or more of the following:
- A journalistic article which combines a description of your research with a personal narrative of your journey as it relates to your research. This can be anywhere from 500-1250 words, but keep in mind this word count is only a general guideline. Please include at least three photos with this submission, and try to have one that includes you in it.
- An academic article/essay suitable for publication in a student journal. This should be approximately 1500-2250 words in length.
- A photo essay which includes a short introduction to your theme and why it is relevant (approximately 300-750 words), and 7-15 photos with short captions to further illustrate the theme.
Please submit all articles as Microsoft Word documents, and all photos as jpeg file attachments by email to: publications@asiapacificreader.org by October 2, 2009. Your article will be published in Passages, an online journal available on the Asia Pacific Reader website and distributed electronically to students, faculty, and alumni.
We greatly appreciate you taking the time to write these articles. By sharing your experiences you are making a valuable contribution to your peers, as well as the academic community at the University of Toronto and beyond. Please do not hesitate to contact us at the email address above if you have any questions.
