Seminar synopsis:
The divide between rural and urban China has grown rapidly in the 60 years since China's founding. With this rift comes challenges of mending the inequalities faced between these two populations, especially in the area of access to quality education. This seminar will introduce and follow one NGO's quest in China - Dream Corps - in their effort to realize their goal of equal education.

Speaker Biography:
Dr. Lo is a postdoctoral fellow in the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto. He is the co-founder of Dream Corps International, and has been sitting as a board member since its founding.
Dream Corps International is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by overseas Chinese. Their mission is to promote education through the establishment of "Dream Libraries" - a public space and public resource in rural schools and underprivileged communities. Every year, Dream Corps recruits overseas volunteers to work at Dream Libraries towards helping local children and youth develop a lifelong interest in reading and learning.
