Asia-Pacific Studies Students' Trip to Korea

By Rhema Kang - Posted on 12 January 2009

The students in Asia-Pacific Studies (ASI400Y) have already made diligent plans to spend their entire Reading Week visiting think tanks, attending academic lectures and meeting with intellectuals in Seoul, Korea. Twelve students and their instructor Stephen Trott, received elusive funding from the Faculty of Arts and Science as an Internationalized Course Module which aims to narrow the gap between classroom learning and firsthand experience. The $25 680 that was awarded covers a ten-day field trip that will include a visit to the Demilitarized Zone at the North Korean border and meetings with various civil society groups.

The students will submit their essay assignments to the APR for publication. Their concurrent blog of the trip will be available here.

They depart from Toronto on February 12.
