About the Calendar

Hello Readers,

The calendar, found at left, pulls together information from all new content on the site, creating an easy place to schedule talks, conferences and scholarship deadlines.

Don't forget that content is parsed into both subject and country in the catalogue as well, in case you are particularly interested in one thing or the other.

Cheers,

Adam

PDF, Comments and Calendar

Hello Readers

You may have noticed a couple small additions to the site. We've added the ability to get printer-friendly versions individual pages as well as the ability to convert any page into a PDF at the bottom of each page. This will make keeping information for future reference even easier.

The second addition is commenting on blogs. This has been a much requested feature that has come online for new blog posts. Don't forget to check out the new suggestion feature if you want to make other types of contributions.

Another project we are working on ahead of September is the integration of a calendar, which will keep events, conferences and application deadlines within easy reach.

Cheers,

Adam

Suggestions were Suggested

Hello Readers,

A friend of mine and former classmate who is now studying in the UK recently said that he wanted to make some suggestions for the APR. I had been wanting to build something where readers can make recommendations and the community would grow based on the net effect, and this became the impetus.

The suggestion system is built, and is currently being beta tested. Give it a spin, we would love to get some recommendations (for any type of content), both to test and to add to the APR permanently.

Broken Polls

Hello Readers

You may have noticed that the polls have not been functioning as they should over the past couple weeks. This was really unfortunate as the polls are one of my favorite features of the site.

It seems to be fixed for the time being, however if you encounter a problem later on let me know: adam@asiapacificreader.org

Don't forget that you can go back and vote on any poll that you missed.

Cheers,

Adam

Blog A Life With School

We want to pursue and explore the experience of an embedded BA/MA/PhD student, greatly involved with programs and extra curricular. To do this we are inviting people to blog their life with/at/through school, research and academia.

Similarly, we are looking for current and former students with insight to a certain characteristic experience such as researching abroad, language training abroad, rediscovering the country you grew up in through research, and careers built on the experience of an Asian Studies program.

Photographs have always been integral to the Asia Pacific Reader aesthetic. From the beginning we have accompanied our academic content with beautiful photography from around Asia.

It is a wonder then that it took us so long to get a Flickr account. We have one now, and are slowly adding to it. Our writers, contributors and editors have traveled quite a bit already and have submitted some fantastic photos.
